Broken auto parts lead police to crash suspect

WILMAR – Wilmar Police officers have arrested a 23-year-old man on charges of disabled driving and vehicle tampering as a result of three separate incidents that occurred one after the other on Monday afternoon in Wilmar.

According to the Wilmar Police Department, officers responded to a grocery store in 1300 South First Street to get a suspicious report. Officers were notified that a customer had returned to his truck to find a male party sitting at it. The suspect then got off the truck, got into a Chevy Cobalt and left the area.

Police have received an additional call on a blue Chevy Cobalt that was involved in a crash of a 2021 Dodge pickup truck at the intersection of 19th Street and Fifth Street SE.

Police have begun tracing auto parts and fluids from the suspicious vehicle.

A short time later, police received an additional call that a male party was trying to push a blue Chevy Cobalt into a parking booth at an apartment complex located in the 300th block of Seventh Street Northwest. Police located the suspect and identified him as a 23-year-old man from Wilmar.

He was arrested on a list of possible charges. The case is still under investigation.

WILLMAR – Wilmar firefighters responded to a car fire on the 4900th segment of Interstate 71 northeast, Wilmar, at 2:43 p.m. Sunday. The occupants of the car got out of the car safely.

LONDON – Owners of five different boats reported that gas lines had been cut and fuel had been withdrawn. In one of the boats, a fishing tool was also stolen. The thefts occurred at the 19,000 block of West Andrew Road, New London, and were discovered on Sunday.

Raymond – A stolen boat has been recovered after it was discovered at Tensen Marine in Raymond on Monday.

KANDYOHI – A pickup truck sustained minor damage after hitting a mailbox as the driver swerved to avoid a vehicle in its lane on the 11000 block of US East Highway 12, Kandiyohi, at 11:31 p.m. Sunday.

Motorcyclist thrown from cycle in Stearns County crash

FAIRHAVEN TOWNSHIP, STERNS COUNTY – A motorcyclist was thrown off his bike and taken to St. Cloud Hospital with minor injuries after a crash at the intersection of Routes 7 and 146 in Fairhaven County at 7:25 a.m. Monday.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Paul, 60, of South Haven, was driving his motorcycle north on County Road 7. Evan Clifford, 24, of Ramsey, was driving a westbound passenger vehicle on County Route 146.

An investigation by the sheriff’s office indicates that Clifford passed a stop sign and crashed into Paul’s motorcycle on the side of it. The accident caused Pull to be thrown off the motorcycle. Clifford’s chariot flipped into the ditch after colliding with the motorcycle.

Clifford was able to crawl out of the car on his own. Clifford was unhurt.
